![]() Petra van Noort is a dance-theater performer and choreographer originally from The Netherlands. Based in New York City for over 20 years, she has been a long term co-creator in the companies of several inspiring front women: Jennifer Muller, Susan Marshall, Tiffany Mills and currently Jane Comfort, performing and teaching nationally and internationally and appearing on film. For the last decade of Pina Bausch’s life, Petra was invited to attend rehearsals and performances and to take company class with Tanztheater Wuppertal, an experience which greatly influences her work. While in The Netherlands, Petra studied at the now Fontys Dance Academy and CodeArts, and performed with Herman van Veen and Wies Merkx.
Recently branching further into her own choreography, Petra has presented sections of her live dance and video production Not Meant To Be Solo/(Twinless?) about Vanishing Twin Syndrome in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Sweden. She is also an active member of the International Interdisciplinary Artists Consortium, a network of creators and producers working across disciplines and cultures, with whom she has taught and performed work. Listening to the wisdom of the body and carefully tending to desire, magic and thriving as directive principles informs Petra’s dance theater style as well as the integrative work she does in her private bodywork practice. She has taught yoga, reflexology, master classes in contemporary dance and repertory at colleges around the U.S. and internationally, and continues her research abroad and at home. Currently she is working toward healer track certification with chakra expert Anodea Judith. Stay tuned for a new website featuring Petra’s healing practices. ![]()
